Stacey first gives a brief overview of search, starting from the days of text-base content to today’s explosion of multimedia, including video, music, audio, deep links, etc…But search user satisfaction hasn’t evolved in the way marketers expected. Stacey says there needs to be a better way to search. According to Stacey, 1 in 4 search queries are actually satisfied. Users are spending 25% of all of their queries on refining their queries. More than 50% of online sessions consist of users spending more than 30+ minutes online. Stacey makes the point that most users don’t have the time to spend excessive amounts of time online to find what they are searching for. Only 9% of all queries take less than 3 minutes to complete. 66% of search users are making decisions in key areas of their lives. Stacey also mentions that more than 60% of Canadians are using multiple search engines. Stacey concludes with the advent of Microsoft’s latest entry into the world of search, bing!

I turn on Yahoo search marketing at 3pm and off at 11pm every day to prevent untargeted clicks from europe. My question is how long does it take from the time that I turn my account on until the time it starts displaying my ads?
It should be close to instantaneous. There may be replication delays as your listings’ status is updated across Yahoo servers, but this generally amounts to no more than 5-10 minutes, often much less. On rare occasions, the delay can extend to 45-60 minutes, though.
